Lamprocapnos spectabilis (Bleeding heart) which used to be known as Dicentra, is a fantastically graceful plant featuring in gardens at the moment.
Whilst it dies back in the winter, it surely earns a spot with its graceful arching form and prettiest of heart shaped flowers. (It's easy to see where it's common name comes from!). Tolerating some shade as well as sun (as long as the soil stays moist), it is easy to grow and with its fresh fern like foliage, it sits well amongst ferns in a woodland or can be used in a cottage garden style of planting. Its elegant arching stems light up shady areas and add height and delicate movement. The lovely images of the 'Alba' - white, from come from a clients garden (thank you Keith!)
