WILDLIFE GARDEN
Our clients in Cambridgeshire wanted to use their large front garden as a wildlife haven, so we turned their secluded yet empty space into a natural garden of multi stem trees, woodland plants and grass paths for lots of meandering.
Our clients in Cambridgeshire wanted to use their large front garden as a wildlife haven, so we turned their secluded yet empty space into a natural garden of multi stem trees, woodland plants and grass paths for lots of meandering.
The new wildlife pond really is the focal point, with a bespoke oak bridge, Purbeck limestone edging and a gravel 'beach'. Shelves within the pond allow for different water plants to thrive, as well as encourage wildlife to make their home there.
All the materials were chosen to pick out the brick from the house, and to sit naturally within the woodland setting, including some rusted sculptural pieces like these snowdrops and abstract spiral.

BEFORE
Our clients' existing curved woven willow fence inspired lots of the detailing and shapes in our design, as we created islands of planting beds and a new pond that sat centrally in the open green space.

PLANTING
Planting the garden in the springtime allowed us to add lots of fragrant plants like Viburnum bodnantense 'Dawn', Hamamelis and Daphne odorata, which will really herald the season year after year, and draw our clients into the space for "a turn about the garden" (as they put it!)

We can't wait to come back to the garden as it matures and see how the new climbers scramble along the willow fencing and the island beds begin to nestle within the lawn paths.....and of course to welcome any new wildlife!
