VILLAGE COUNTRY GARDEN
We designed a relaxing space for our clients who wanted a garden to enjoy from the house, as well as within it.
We designed a relaxing space for our clients who wanted a garden to enjoy from the house, as well as within it.
Their existing apple tree was a real focal point in the garden, and it's canopy informed the curved design of the ground plan. Circular-edged beds draw your eye away from the boundaries, and arches of planting beds within the lawn help to create layers of foliage and flower, making the garden seem deeper.
BEFORE
Here was the blank canvas that we had to work with, along with the beautiful apple tree that dominated the space.
Here was the blank canvas that we had to work with, along with the beautiful apple tree that dominated the space.
And here's how we did it;
- A pale sandstone was used for the main patio and smaller seating areas, contrasting with two copper slate clad walls which shimmer in the light and cast interesting shadows throughout the day.
- Bespoke metal arches provide height in the garden, without dominating the space, and lawn paths draw you around the garden to the various seating areas in both sun and shade.
- Evergreen structure in the form of box balls gives some permanence, with lots of differing foliage and flowers throughout the seasons providing interest all year round.
Above are some photos kindly sent to us from our clients, showing how the garden and particularly the planting has matured over the last 3 years. We look forward to visiting soon and starting work on their front garden!
