HOSPICE GARDEN
We thoroughly enjoyed working with Greenfingers Charity to design the Centred Garden at Acorns Children's Hospice in the Black Country for the children, their families and the lovely staff members, which now plays a vital part in providing a shared outdoor space to get together, take a quiet moment, make connections, play, explore and learn.

The hospice is fundamentally built around the garden, with all bedrooms, dining areas, craft and play areas taking advantage of the view of the surrounding woodland backdrop. As such, the garden really is the heart of the hospice, providing year-round opportunities for making the most of what nature provides each and every day.
Our design ensured that all paths were at least 2m wide, and that all ground materials were safe and smooth, so that children in wheelchairs and beds could access the garden straight from their bedrooms, as well as from all of the day rooms, right around the garden. We created colourful arches so that children lying down could experience the colour and light of the space, as well as touch the tactile grasses and plants along the way.
Thank you both again for creating such a magical space. The garden is already so special, and we know it will continue to be a place where precious memories are made." Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications, Greenfingers Charity
Play Equipment
We designed lots of elements of play into the garden for all of the children and their families to access, including a cantilevered basket swing, a wheelchair-friendly trampoline and some lovely, large-scale musical chimes under the pergola.

Planting
Planting plays a huge part in providing the garden with structure, colour, texture and scent throughout the year, to be enjoyed from the cosiness of the hospice inside, or indeed outside in the elements!

Acorns Hospice is part of a family of hospices that serve the West Midlands, for life-limited children and young people - just last year Acorns supported 945 families in the area. The hospice's aims are to support families in any way they can to “create lasting memories”.
We were immediately touched by the ‘home from home’ feeling and the warm welcome, the friendly and attentive staff and the bright, comfortable bedrooms and suites. The hospice provides a tailored service to meet the individual needs of everyone who requires their support.
